DWT Diversity

Christopher W. Savage

Hometown: Goleta, Calif.

Year you joined DWT: 2007, after my old firm merged with DWT.

How you describe your work to a kid: I help sort out the rules for how your cell phone and computer talk to other cell phones and computers, like how the networks connect, who pays how much, and so on.

Diversity hero: The performing arts team at my son’s (former) high school. The choral director, music director, and drama director are all openly gay. They have created a safe space for gay students, but also created a space where straight kids can learn to accept gay kids while focused on producing good music and drama. What matters is the performance.

Why you serve on the diversity committee: I like mentoring younger attorneys.

Personal goal in five years: Finish a semi-autobiographical novel so that my kids will be able to understand what my own childhood and young adulthood was like.
